Victoria A. Schaefer is a graduate research assistant supporting NRCRES and a Ph.D. candidate at UNC’s School of Education. Her work focuses on researching successful education reform efforts in the US and their impact on public policy outcomes. In particular her education experience and research interests lie in rural education, particularly in helping socio-economically disadvantaged communities manage the challenges of today’s education environment. She brings a breadth of relevant experience to NRCRES, having worked as a public school social studies teacher for three years in rural Eastern North Carolina, as well as having nearly a decade of experience in public affairs and public policy at the Federal and State level in Washington, DC and California. Ms. Schaefer holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in History from East Carolina University.
